This last Tuesday I hung my art work at Scooter's Coffeehouse Rockledge Gallery in Lincoln, NE for my month long show! My paintings will be showcased from September 29 - Oct. 31. Opening Reception is Oct. 2nd (Saturday) from 7 - 9pm with an artist talk at 8pm. Scooter's on 84th and Van Dorn has a wonderful space to display art - their high ceilings and brick walls make for a warm and inviting atmosphere. They even have a really nice conference room that is available to be used by groups for free! What a service to the community!
Besides my realism paintings I am also including a grouping of smaller sized abstract expressionism paintings! There's been a stirring for a number of years to explore this style due to the freedom that is inherently in this form of visual art. Perhaps the stirring has happened because I know I'm freer inside due to ongoing impacts of Light. He is so into freedom - He who the Son sets free is free indeed! More light, more freedom - what a combination and a promise! Hmm, must be a light thought.
In my abstract expressionism paintings I want to express truths and exeriences that are underneath the surface or so to speak, beyond the veil. To get viewers thinking and wondering. It's been fun to do some and will be interesting to see where it leads. "Stair Ladder", 5" x 9" acrylic on canvas, is one that will be showcased at this Scooter's show. Did you know, scriptures speak of stairs and a ladder? Hmm, a way to more light!
