Nancy Teague Painting In Octagon 2015 National Exhibit

Good news! My painting "Make A Splash" was accepted in the Octagon Center for the Arts National All Media Exhibit in Ames, Iowa.

Make A Splash Acrylic 36x36 (c)Nancy Teague
This painting reminded me of the spontaneous playfulness of children.

Did you ever jump into a puddle and make a splash when you were little?
Puddles are just waiting to be jumped in by children.
Oh, the vibrant colors of delight that explode in such child-like fun!
Of course mom doesn't think so, knowing that puddles can create stains.

If you dared to jump in, wasn't it fun?
If you saw someone do it, didn't you want to follow suit?
What fun reflections we are made to be. Hence the double splash.

Unfortunately, in our 'grown-up' life
we fall into busy, distracted, or worn out,
so we don't play and make splashes.
This painting is a reminder to play and participate in a part of the fullness of life.
Splash! It does a body good!

Okay, back to the exhibit.

From 323 nation-wide submitted entries the juror selected 65 pieces of artwork for the exhibit. Octagon Center for the Arts' 2015 National Juried All-Media Exhibition will be on display through April 5th.

The juror's comment on the show - "The sheer number of entries in and of itself is a powerful indicator that this competition serves an important role as it gives many artists an opportunity to showcase their work.  I was impressed by the dedication and commitment of all the artists who entered." Juror Pauline Verbeek-Cowart

The opening reception was Friday evening on January 23rd.  The Gallery was packed!

An artsy good night was had by all.
